Crossing Mumbai is hard at the best of times. It is a great deal harder with one leg, with a child in a brace, or after a stroke. So we come to you instead.

Om Prosthetics & Orthotics Center, the Mumbai centre of Limbgenixx India, provides prosthetic and orthotic home visits across Mumbai and the surrounding area. This page is straightforward about what we can do at your home, what still has to happen at the centre, and what it costs.

When a home visit makes sense

• Recently amputated and not yet mobile enough to travel comfortably.
• Bedbound or largely housebound, where a trip across the city is a whole-day undertaking.
• Elderly patients, particularly where someone would otherwise need to take a day off to accompany them.
• Children in bracing — a child is usually calmer and easier to assess at home than in an unfamiliar room.
• After a stroke, where a brace needs checking against how you actually move in your own home.
• Follow-up and adjustment, where a short visit solves something that does not justify a journey.

What can be done at home

• Assessment and clinical examination
• Measurement and casting for many devices
• Fitting and adjustment of a finished device
• Minor repairs that do not need workshop equipment
• Strap, padding and liner replacement
• Review appointments
• Advice on footwear, skin checks and daily use

What still needs the centre

We would rather be clear about this up front than have you expect a finished limb at the end of one visit.

• Fabrication. Devices are made with workshop equipment. The visit captures what is needed; the making happens at the centre.
• Some fittings. Complex socket fitting and gait assessment are better done where there is room to walk and watch properly.
• Major repairs needing machinery.

In practice most cases are a mix: we come to you for assessment and casting, make the device, then return to fit it — or you collect it if that is easier by then.

What a home visit costs

Home visits are a charged service. The charge depends on where you are in Mumbai and what the visit involves, so there is no single figure to publish honestly.

What we will do is tell you the charge when you book, before anyone travels. You will not get a bill at the end that you were not expecting.

How a home visit works

1. Message usSend your area, who the visit is for, and what you need. A photograph of the limb, the brace or the foot helps more than a long description.
2. We confirmWhether we can attend, what it will cost, and when. If what you need genuinely cannot be done at home, we will say so rather than take the booking.
3. The visitAssessment, measurement and casting as needed. Allow a reasonable window — this is not a five-minute call.
4. Making the deviceFabrication happens at the centre. We will give you a realistic timeline.
5. FittingEither a second visit, or at the Kharghar centre if you prefer and are able.
6. Follow-upAdjustments are normal with a new device. Tell us if something rubs — do not put up with it.

Message us on WhatsApp with three things: your area, who the visit is for, and what you need. That is usually enough for us to tell you whether we can come, what it will cost and when.

If you can travel, the Kharghar centre is open every day from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm and no appointment is needed to ask a question.
