What happens at your first appointment
- We listen firstWhat you need to be able to do, what you did before, and what the ground and stairs are like where you live. A limb for farm work is specified differently from one for mostly indoor use.
- AssessmentExamination of the limb, joint or foot — shape, skin, movement, strength, and how you walk or use it now.
- Measurement or castingCustom devices are made to a cast or scan of your own anatomy.
- Test fittingFor sockets and many braces there is a trial stage, so problems are found while they are still easy to fix.
- Fitting and adjustmentThe device is fitted and adjusted while you use it. Expect more than one adjustment — that is normal.
- ReviewBodies change, children grow, devices wear. Review is part of the service.

Indore, Ujjain and Ratlam. Patients elsewhere in Madhya Pradesh are served by our Gwalior centre, and you are welcome to use whichever is easier to reach.
Not to talk to us. Many people come directly after an amputation or with a brace prescription. If you have a prescription or discharge summary, bring it. For some conditions we will ask you to see a clinician first, and we will say so plainly.
It is a series of appointments rather than one. Assessment and casting, a test socket, fitting and adjustment, then review. The spacing depends on how your limb settles, so we give you a realistic schedule at the first appointment rather than a number over the phone.
Any prescription, referral letter or discharge summary, your current device if you have one, the shoes you wear most, and a list of what you are finding difficult. Loose trousers or shorts help if the device is for your leg.
